Getting better performance outa my Lancer

Hey all,

As some of ya may know, i have a 2001/2002 Mitsubishi Lancer Limited Edition sedan(similar to the VRX).

Basically i'm just wondering if there is anything i can do without spending too much money & without wrecking the waranty on the car, to give it alittle more power. I've got the 1.8 manual sedan....

Thanks!

if u want power, i think u'll have to do mod to the car and basically screw ur warrant man

if u do exhaust mod should get u a few more kW
and alloy wheels should reduce weigth on ur car for better accelleration
a real sport spoiler (metel ones) for high speed
i think u get cleaner power output using premium unlead

anymore power im guessing the turbos mod on the engine

other then that u might have to ask a more experience car junkie then me

Thanks for replying! Atleast thats some more input than i had before

Exhaust, i'll probably be getting in the next year or so...
Alloys, well i'm getting some new wheels (the've been on order since january! ack! still waiting.. hmm gotta call them again today to see if they have an update)
Aluminium Spoiler, probably wont end up with one of them for a while, too much work (car has stock spoiler, changing it would mean fixing up the old mounting holes & repainting the boot)
And more often then not i run it on pulp (premium un-leaded petrol).

I should be getting a new bodykit soon, while doing that i am gonna look at modding the air intake to try to get abit more cleaner & cooler oxygen thru the system... Hopefully the modding wont be too obvious so mitsubishi wont notice when i take it in for services (i've got 3 years/60,000kms worth of free services, so i might aswell use them, once they are up i'm taking it to my mechanic).

i think modding ur exhaust will void a lot of the factory warranty
yeah well body kits dont really make ur car got faster unless ur travveling very fast that's when the spoiler helps to keep ur tail on the road

pfft with body kit new alloys and mod exhaust hell yeah theyll notice ur changes LOL :finger:

lol ofcourse they will notice the bodykit, wheels & exhaust (i'm thinking changing the exhaust will obviously kill the warenty on the exhaust, but the motor itself should still be covered?). But hopefully they wont notice the modded intake...

Just got word that BSA australia have received 1 set of the wheels i have on order, they havent gone thru the paperwork yet for them, so at this stage they just presume they are my wheels (they better be!!!). They should be at the place i am ordering them thru (www.tyres.com) next week. (about bloody time!)

May I know what short of colour your car is? Looks cool.. I really like the yellow bright colours though. Like the old integra type R.

Its actually a stock mitsubishi colour, but they only done it for a limited time (only available on the "Limited Edition" and the "Commonwealth Games Edition" models as far as i am aware).

Can't think of the colour name or code off hand. If ya want me to find out i can tho.

Considering the Lancer (non evo) is front wheel drive, yeah a big ricer wing (metal one of course) will definitely benefit it. (<<<sarcasm).

Dude..do you not know that a Wing benefits RWD and AWD cars. ANd even then it only benefits them at top speeds 140mph+. Do stock Lancers even hit that? I dont think so. Only the Evolution which tops out at 157. So if you dont know what your talking about, dont give this man information that will make him the laughing stock of real car enthusiasts.
