where is the pcv valve

I have a 92 Lumina with the 3.1 in it I am getting a lot of oil in the intake duct and I can not seem to locate this pcv valve. so where is that bugger!

it should be on one of the valve covers. normally the one without the oil fill cap.

I checked w/autozone and the location description says that it is in the center or the rear valve cover, however they said the same for my 92 olds 3.8L which was not true.
I found mine under the plastic cover that snaps onto the fuel rails and is secured by a 10mm nut at the front of the engine. Under that there were three bolts holding the plate down which houses the pcv valve.
As this may not be true for your car, it may help you locate yours.

'92 Lumina 3.1 yes it is there, real pain to do. Under map sensor mounting. Hose connects to bottom of plennium, and probably is VERY hard. best to replace it also.

OK I think I saw it from under the car but how do I get it out do i need to remove the motor mounts and rotate the engine forward? and the map sensor part? I cant even get my hand near it.

You'll need to to unbolt the "dogbone" front motor mounts and rotate the engine forward to access the rear rocker arm cover. Support the tilted engine by inserting the original bolts into the bottom hole of the "bone".

The PCV valve will be located in the rocker cover grommet directly under the purge solenoid. You'll see the formed hose on top of the valve that leads under the plenum.

Try to replace the valve with the exact AC part number. (I had a bad experience - once)

Best to pull the plenium so to be able to replace the hose that attaches to it from the PCV valve. Usually this hose will break when trying to replace PCV valve.
