Lumina inertia switch location

Hi, I lost power to the fuel pump relay and was wondering if it can be due to the innertia switch. I was able to get the engine to fire if I sprayed a small amount of gas in the intake. What is the location of the innertia switch if it has one?

Welcome to AF, nice to know the year and engine for starters, there is no inertia switch on any Lumina.

I did not think that there was an innertia switch but I came across some information on line where some one suggested resetting this switch.

I was under the impression that this was just applicable on Fords.

I'll have to trace the wiring and see if there is an open between the fuel pump relay and the ECM.

I see that I have to rely on my own knowledge to be correct. I feel slightly embarrised in thinking that there might have been an innertia switch

GM does not put in inertia switches and Ford is the only one that does

Hi, Once again thank you. During all the years that I had worked on GM, Chrysler, and Ford, I only came accross innertia switches in Ford products.

I have traced the wiring to the fuel pump on this vehicle and have power to the pump and fuel gage.

I'm afraid that I have to drop the tank to replace a defective fuel pump

This is 1991 Lumina with a 3.1L engine. I should have given that information first.

I did not want to drop the tank, but I have no choice now. Thanks

How about oil leaks? Any @ press. switch? If the switch shorts to send low press. signal, will shutoff fuel pump. There are 2 power lines to the pump. Both must be hot to operate pump.
