Starter Location

The car is 95 EXPO. Where is the starter located? Underneath the engine?

The car can not start. Turn the key to "start", I can hear a short clicking sound from somewhere, parking indicator is off. However, no crank sound, the headlight does not dim either. Replace the ignition switch, no help. Doubt Starter Solenoid is broken.

Re: Starter Location

The starter attaches to the flywheel on the engine, so depending on if its FWD, RWD it could be in diffrent locations. its usually 1 large cyclnder with a smaller cyclender under it. Usually when a starter goes bad the enternal gears dont grab anymore and as you crank you will hear a fast sounding spinning noise... turn on your head lights or your dome light and watch it as you crank and see if it dims down to almost dead, could possibly be your battery not having enouph charge to crank

Re: Starter Location

Check with the fuel pump or the corroborator it might have gone faulty due to which you have the starter problem
