Light scratches on clear coat

Hi guys,

This winter, I was an idiot and accidently scratched the clear coat with my ice scraper. The scratches are smooth (I ran my fingernail over them and didn't feel anything). They almost look like scuff marks, but don't come off when I rub them. How do you get rid of them? I guess I just want something that will buff out the scratches. I'm not at all automotive minded, and I really need some guidance on this.

Try some 3M micro finishing compound and a buffer ON LOW. Don't go crazy. Then use 3M imperial hand glaze. Give it a week and a regular wax job and you should be all set.
I'm not a professional body man but this has worked for me.

You can usually pick up a good scratch remover from your local auto parts store. Now I say "scratch remover" but that doesn't do it justice. People think because it does say scratch remover that I will fix the problem. Thats not true. Depending on how big and deep the scratch is, will the remover work. You may need a layer of bondo or similar compound to fill in the scratch. Before you go that route pickup some of the remover, to see if it works. Remember you get what you pay for so consider a more expensive brand.

zymol cleaner wax tends to mask/hide smaller scratches and imperfections . light blue bottle, about $13.

I want share this here. I had a 2 inch scratch in the black paint on my driver's door. It was through to the primer. One sTroke of the pen and it blended in very nicely. It is best if you use a silicone/wax removing liquid around the scratch first, so to ensure you are not putting the Fix It Pro liquid on top of wax. Also, the pen tip will harded after a few days after its initial use.
