94 B4000 Power Steering Making Noises
Any suggestions on why a power steering pump would be making noises especially when turning? The reservoir is not low.
Thanks guys.

Re: 94 B4000 Power Steering Making Noises
If it is tough to steer or turn the wheel while the vehicles is parked??? Then the pimp is going bad or has already went bad... Also, if while the vehicle is parked and when you turn the wheel and it kind of stutters??? Then the pump is going bad or has already went bad... If this is not either case??? Then there is dirt in one of the pump lines, normally the supply line to the steering gear box... Or the steering gear box has some abnormal wear on one of the gears... You need to examine the power steering fluid for dark discoloration or dirt and or metal fragments in the fluid... Sometimes you can remove the fluid and add brand new and see if the situation has improved... Chance are??? A new power steering pump will be needed...

Thanks for the reply. No problems with steering. Its just making that wyning noise like it is low on fluid but it is full. It is real dirty looking though. Wonder if flushing it would help make the noise go away?

You can flush it out and see if that remedies your problem... I would remove it from the block and flush it outside of the engine compartment... Diesel fuel works great for flushing... Try it and let me know what is going on...
