Help changing Water pump ??

I was changing the bypass hose on my 2000 Windbag and while I was attempting to remove the tube from the water pump, the housing on the pump cracked. It is way far down to ignore so I now have to replace the f'in pump. Any tips would be appreciated. I can't see an easy way to go about this. I started with trying to get the wheel off (after removing belt) and this thing is welded on. I removed the altenator and I still can't see where all the bolts are hiding. Please help...thanks.

Rob

Re: Help changing Water pump ??

I've replaced the water pump on my Winnie.

I've rebuilt the engine in my Winnie. This was easier than the water pump job.

Hope that helps.

If you do a search, you will find some good info. But it is a knuckle-buster of a job.

Re: Help changing Water pump ??

On the 3.8L motor....you need to raise that side of the motor up about 3 or 4 inches to be able to clear the subframe member (sounds like you know the one) with the water pump pulley.
I have not changed a water pump on my windstar.....but this is what all the instructions say to do.....and others here have posted that this is true.

If you have a new pump....or even a picture of a water pump (rockauto might have one in the listings) it might help you to feel and find the bolts.
Make sure to count the holes on the new pump.......and MAKE SURE to remove ALL the bolts before even thinking about removing the pump.
