I'm trying in vain to locate the thermostat in my 2004 Cavalier 2.2 ecotec. I've looked in the usual places. Anybody know?

Re: thermostat?
![]() See 2 - metal tubes on the left side of the motor in this pic? It is in that assembly. You have to detach it from the block and then from that tube coming off the water pump.

Re: thermostat?
It's a 2004, so it's got the Ecotec (VIN F) just like in the picture Cody posted. If the 4th VIN is "J" and the 10th is "4", it's got an "F" for the 8th

Re: thermostat?
Quote:
He said ecotec... bringing up the LN4 2.2 OHV has no relevance to his post. Bleeding the system is nothing more than leaving the overflow tank cap off and let the car cycle the fan off and on. It will expel the air through the tank. If you have a vacuum for coolant systems that helps yes, but leaving the cap off works just fine. There is no need to clutter the thread with non relevant information to his post. Thanks.
