speedo problems

Having an issue with my speedometer on my 1996 Dodge Neon. The speedo is intermitantyl working but at the same time, my cruise is working fine. I am guessing the Vehicle Speed Sensor is going out of it but want to make sure before I tackle it. Where is this sensor at on the Transaxle and does this sound like a sensor problem. Thanks in advance.

Re: speedo problems

Pretty sure the speed sensor is my problem but I need to know where to look for this little guy so I can put the new one in. Just started having problems with it late last week.

Re: speedo problems

If the cruise is working the speed sensor is working the sensor runs both. The sensor is on the transmission close to where the passenger side axle go's in. It looks like a tail shaft on a rear wheel drive but smaller.
