EX-R engine Swap
Hello everyone,
This is for the those with a Honda Accord EX-R engine. I have just brought a Honda Accord LX and want to swap it for an EX-R. However, before I do that I have some questions. (1) Does this increase hp? Not that I'm into ricers, I'm not...but I would like to have a little more hp than what I already have. (2) What do I look for in buying an engine? I've found some good places on the internet that aren't expensive. (3) what would a good mechanic charge me to do the swap? and (4) is there more too it that I'm not aware of? I'm a female and I love my accord. I'm interested in keeping her for a while and make mods as I go. She does need some work but not too much. Currently, she has clear euro corners, cd player with 2 twelves powered by an Alpine V12....she knocks...trust me Although she does raddle the truck a bit...I plan to dyno the trunk soon. But before I do any other mods to her I want this engine swap. She currently has 196k miles on her and I don't want her to die on me since I do a lot of highway miles each day back and forth to school.Mods in the Futher: Phillips HID conversion Dynomate Trunk New Paint job Window tint (Smoke Color) Lower her about 3 inchs (if that not to much) No rim's since she will be stolen if I put them on my car in the neighbor hood I live in...this will come once I move out of the Ghetto Nice hubs or Honda rims to make up for the real rim's I wish to have. That about it......See no rice mod's....I want her to look like she's stock..but when it comes to power...she has a little suprise under the hood. Any help would be glady welcomed.... Thanks guy's |

i dont think it would be worth it at all. unless im confusing it with something else, an ex-r is just a canadian ex. if you want a cheap hp gain, get a jdm f22b dohc(non-vtec). they were used in the prelude si, it has 160hp/148tq. and since theyre a f-series motor they will drop directly in to whatever tranny you have now. or you can do what everone has convinced me to, save and get a h22.

RE: EX-R engine Swap
Thanks for the reply,
Your right. I was just doing some search's online and found out that the H22A is a much better engine. I saw a lovely Accord with an H22A engine in it however it was a JDM model and they don't have them over here in the US.....Dang I hate the new models that just came out. I think that Honda should go back to the 4th gen models and stick with that model with a better engine and better lights. O well....any how I saw an H22A for $2,000....That's a good deal if they aren't con artist. If you know where I can find a good H22A DOHC VETC engine let me know. Also I don't drive a manual....never learned how to drive one. So it will have to be a plug and play model. And do you know how much they will charge me to swap engines...I don't want to get burned for my money.... Thanks, |

you might be able to get a motor for even less, the demand for a/t h22's is probably next to none. and im assuming your car is already auto, so youll save money on installation as well. i dont know offhand, but i would say at most a grand for installation. and if you can find a reputable company selling motors on ebay, you can get a great deal.
for example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6770
