4t65e-hd vs. 4t60e

I have 97.5 GS.. Got transmission done at shop. At first the guy said I have a 4t60 e. Code is mn7 which means 4t65e-hd..estimate was $1700 to rebuild my tranny with a shift kit and new external tranny cooler..i know some parts cost more for the non hd version of my tranny....He said they put a hd torque conv in too... If the shop wanted to save $ on parts could the non hd parts fit...Also would the parts from the 4t60e fit in my housing...Also the rpm,s seem to be a little high when it locks up in 4th at 60 mph...about 200 rpm too high...also perf shift does not seem to work like it used to....the guy tried telling me that all it does is make the rpms higher when it shifts...i told him it increases the line pressure and gives a quicker shift...is there a way i can check line pressure with a scan tool

Exactly what parts are you talking about, the major overhaul kits are about the same. If the rpms are different than prior to the repair, the final drive gear ratio would have to have been changed or the o/d ratio, unless the tcc is slipping, which would set a code.

You need a line pressure gauge. The port is located on the top of the transaxle. The 200 rpm difference isn't that bad considering they installed a hd torque converter and we don't know what the specs are versus stock.

The major difference between the 4T60E and 4T65E or 4T65E-HD is how line pressure is controlled. 4T65E is by the PCS solenoid and PCM module. The 4T60E uses a vacuum modulator.

its shifting hard between 1st and second...It kind of delays alittle the catches...when i first got the car back it only did that between 1st and second...Now it does it a little worse and its starting to do it beween 2nd and 3rd...The guy told me he had a machine that checks the shift solenoids to see if they are still good.... Would a master overhaul kit have th shift solenoids...He also insisted that he put a shift correction kit and an external tranny cooler and bypass the radiator...also when its locks up in 4th at about 47 mph its a little harder to get it out of lockup, when i give it a little gas it bogs down a little ...then i give it a little more gas it comes out of lockup
