Intermittant Power Windows Issue

Hi All, 2000 GT Sedan. The RH back window occationally will not go up. All other positionins work fine. I believe there is till juice to the window because when I hit the switch on the driver door I can see a very small dip in RPM's like when I try to actuate the others. Any ideas? Thanks.

did you try both switches? if both switches dont work...I'm thinking its a bad regulator.

Re: Intermittant Power Windows Issue

Actually I pulled up on the window and it moved a bit. Then I tried the switch and it worked. I tried it against and it stopped, pulled up on it and it worked. I think I just need to find out where it's binding and lube it accordingly.

Re: Intermittant Power Windows Issue

I've had to replace three window motors on mine. There wasn't a junk yard 200 miles of me that didn't have all the Grand Prixs stripped of the window motors. Common problem, so if this is your first, you're lucky. The regulator was broken on all of mine though and it wouldn't budge, so yours may just be binding.

GM charges about $400 a pop for part and labor. You can get new motor and regulator off of Ebay for $50. My first one was $100, but have since come down. Go to auto parts store and get a pack of plastic door panel clips if you want to do it yourself because a few of them will break. Other than that, if you have to replace it, if I can do it, anyone can.

Dorman also makes replacement window regulators for these cars that are reasonably price if you don't want to go the e-bay route. Just about any chain auto parts store (Advance, Auto Zoned <--, CarQuest, etc...) should have them readily available.
