Dying out while in motion.

Charger has been dying out every so often, on average once a day. while driving the charger the engines seems to disengage. i step on the gas pedal and the needle moves but the car appears to be in neutral. I just restart it in neutral while it's rolling, throw it in drive, wait for the short delay of the tranny engaging, then PUNCH IT! How can i fix this problem? Any suggestions?
