Gearshift knob

I have a 2004 Cavalier 5 speed and would like to take the gearshift knob off it to clean it up or maybe replace it. It doesn't seem to want to turn...anybody know how to get the thing off?

Re: Gearshift knob

Just twist it... its only on with Blue lock-tite and the metal shaft has a grippy surface. It will twist off... Righty tighty - lefty loosey.

Smile Re: Gearshift knob

It seemed so tight on the shaft that I thought there was some kind of combination to it. I guess I'll try a little harder. Thanks
