2002 Grand Am GT Clicking Problem

I have a 2002 Grand Am GT that has treated me very well. However for quite a while now i have a clicking sound coming from the steering wheel area. It sounds like your turn signal but at a faster rate. It also comes and goes, its not always constant. Anyone have any advice? Thanks!

Justin

Welcome to AF !!

Could be your muti function switch-MFS or your hazzard relay is bad.
Since its only doing it intermittantly Id lean toward the MFS.

Usualy a cleaning of the contact points works. Then installing new dielectric grease.

Ok, I didnt find the right one for you, so I just whipped a R&R for this.
1999-2005 Multi Function Switch-MFS

Hope that helps!

Not sure if you still have the problem but I had this problem, the dealer sent out a bulletin for this, they replaced my flasher which is attached to the back of the hazard switch. so it sounds like it is in the dash. But I ended up having to change my multi function turn signal switch very easy to do. The contacts were wore out and shorting out.

Thanks for the tip.

Yes GM did post a TSB for the hazzard relays. Im pretty sure it only coverd 99-01 N bodies and then the relays were made different(better).

Also the MFS clicking can be fixed without replacing the switch. Usualy a cleaning of the contacts and regrease solves this problem. (see post #2)
