Can I put a 2004/5.3 into my 2000/5.3 Silverado?
I found a good deal on a low mileage 5.3 out of a wrecked 2004 silverado. Will it bolt up or do I need to swap stuff around?
My 2000 Silverado 5.3 currently has 150k on it and the motor is getting louder and louder,, not only when its cold anymore,, I was told its the piston rattle issue... Please give me some advise on what is needed for the swap... Kevin "If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read this in english, thank a veteran" |

for starters, you'll have to swap ECM along. how that will mate with your current transmission, who knows.
that's the problem with GM products - they have so many options and combinations, that, basically, every vehicle is ECM-d just for that set up. |

If you are gonna swap the new bottom end and use your intake etc, I don't see why not. The blocks are the same I'm pretty sure. trans should bolt and all.

i believe the engines and electronics were a little different each year so i dont know how well your computer would adapt to the 3 year newer engine. also since the front ends were different im not sure if it would even bolt right up.
