is there a DIY way to bypass the passlock system in cavalier/sunfire's when installing a remote starter?

Re: remote starter help

Yes. There are 3 wires that go to the lock cylinder, you need to cut the yellow and black wire and solder a resistor between those wires. If the lock cylinder is working correctly, you can just measure the resistance of the lock cylinder and use one of that rating. You will probably have to do a re-learn after bypassing it: Try to start the engine and then release the key to "on". The security light will illuminate for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the light will go off. Cycle the key to off and wait a few seconds, then turn the key back to on. Repeat this a total of 3 times, after the 3rd 10 minute wait, turn the key off, wait a few seconds, and then start the car.
