Starter Relay Problems

1990 Mustang LX soft top the starter relay keeps burning out and yesterday one of the the connecters burnt off that is connected to the starter. Any thoughts?

Welcome to AF!!

Possibly the fields in the starter are grounding out causing so much amperage that the relay and everything downstream to the starter is getting hot. Before you replace the relay again get a new starter. Don't just put bushings in it because the windings are toast by now.
