Question no power to them wheels....

i have a 97 lesabre custom and i have a pickle i been dealin with for a while. for some odd reason, when i first start the car up i get the normal power i would get from the series 2 3800. but after a few min the power suddenly goes away after the engine heats up. i was told it could be a clogged fuel filter. should i remove the filter and if i do how do i check for clogs and if there is a clog how do i remove it or should i just replace it?

Just replace the filter if it has been over 30K miles since the last replacement. Also check fuel pressure when engine is warm. IIRC, the 97 had a recall on the fuel pressure regulator, has it been changed?
