Gemballa Mirage GT

Hello all,

Finally i managed to finish this model. I'm not fully satisfied with the paintwork as i had several problems during painting. But i think the overall result is quite ok. Hope you like it.

Re: Gemballa Mirage GT

I had problem with the paint. it was finishers west black. The color itself is very nice. Black with silver and gold metallic. But i never such a bad metallic paint. i dont know how or why but the metallic pigments are not equally sprayed. i painted the whole body with airbrush and there are some are where it is alomst pure black without any metallic. Than after clear coating at some areas the clear coat damaged the paint a bit. i tried to correct with paint but then it became too metallic. I opininon is that the metallic pigments are too heavy in the paint and they sink too quickly and when i was airbrushing the body there were more pigments in the beginning as pigments were sunk to the bottom of the airbrush can. than for the end there was not enoguh metallic pigment.

but i'm happy that you like it even this way

The paint looks great from your pictures. It's also a very nice transkit that you've put together!

Re: Gemballa Mirage GT

Not a fan of the metallic flake but it doesn't detract from the fact it looks superb! Do you have any pics of the engine/engine bay? Also, what colour did you use for the brake discs? They look like a perfect match to the 1:1.

Engine is not really visible under the hood. It cannot be opened as in Tamiya kit for Carrera GT opens frontwards and for Mirege GT it opens backwards.

For brake i used Testors Titan metalizer, i use this color for carbon brakes also in motogp bikes. Calipers are Tamiya red
