What Is This Part On A 97 Buick Lesabre Limited?
The Other Day I Was Replacing The Muffler On My 97 Buick Lesabre, I Noticed Three Hoses With A T Connector In Them Middle Of Them Hanging Down With Only One Hose Attached, When I Looked To See What It Was Connected To, I Noticed It Was Connected To Some Kind Of Vacuum Motor And Two Nipple Connectors That Was Right Behind The Tail Pipe And Up Towards The Trunk Bottom, I Bought New Hoses And A New T-Connector And Replaced Them Onto This Vacuum Motor Looking Object And The Nipple Connector, After Driving For A While I Noticed When I Pushed The Pedal Down I Had More Power, What Is This Part And What Does It Do And Does It Have Anything To Do With My Vehicle Having More Power To The Pedal ?

Does it have wires that go to a small box with an arm connected to a rod that connects to the arm that moves up and down with the wheel? That would be the sensor that measures the height of the rear of the car. Do your struts have connections near the top on the inside area for a small air line? |

Re: What Is This Part On A 97 Buick Lesabre Limited?
The motor you are referring to is an air compressor for the rear air assist struts. It is an electric compressor motor and has nothing to do with engine vacuum. The feeling of "more power" could be a result of the rear struts being inflated, and not allowing the rear end to dip when you accelerate, which causes wasted acceleration time due to body movement (rotation).
