85 C20 fuel tank replacement

The tank on mine is leaking badly and need to be replaced. I bought a new 20 gal plastic tank for it and am going to put it in myself. Does anyone have any tips to make this job go easier? It looks like the easiest way to get to the lines would be to remove the bed, but I dont want to go that far and test the rusted bolts!

Re: 85 C20 fuel tank replacement

Put the truck on 4 jack stands setting on concrete. Place a floor jack under the tank I would suggest something between the jack and tank for support.
You have to disconnect the support straps and lower the tank enough to get your hands where you can disconnect the fuel and power to the pump.
When everything is disconnected I would suggest one person work the jack as you guide the tank down.
