1/12 Ligier JS11

Just finished the build ..and first of all many thanks to Steve at SnC for supplying the kit . The kit itself is the Heller 1/12 kit of the Ligier Gitanes JS11 , I decided to do the 1979 Monaco GP Version driven by Jaques Laffite , I built this OOB and the main bodywork was painted in Revell Aqua paints which was a mixture of 9 parts 52( Blue) and 1 part 54 (Night Blue) , but as you'll see in the photo's it looks a light French blue , even though the car is a dark blue .
I had a few mishaps with the decals , first of all they didn't fit at all well and I made a big cock up by painting the drivers tub white then applied the decal which then meant the rest of the decals went onto blue paintwork ..so you'll notice a slight variation of the white
Overall not a bad kit just fiddly .
I gave the car a slight weathering

Great to see an older F1 car here.
Car is looking good. Don't really notice any of the problems you mentioned.

Otherwise, Heller kits seem to be a b*tch anyway, so kudo's to you for bringing this to a great end !

I noticed some minor wrinkles on the rear wing end plate. Is the whole rear wing end plate a decal? I'd thought that the blue would have been painted.

There where a lot of decals on this kit and have to say they were pretty awful .. they refused no matter what I did to go on ..plus I made a major cock up on the main white ones that go onto the body work ( You know whats coming ) , the 2 decals went onto the drivers tub had to go onto the silver side pods , so I had this great idea to paint that white then apply the decals ..so far so good then I placed the main white decals onto the blue body work (Yep you guessed it ) the white decals now had a blue tint and didn't match up
as for the side pod decals and the rear wing decals they were one big decal , that didn't fit
Really I should of just painted the white trim , and chopped up those decals after painting all the white on the bodywork ..So If I do another one of these kits thats what I'll do next time round ..trouble now is I have a car that looks stunning at 20 foot away ..but it goes all pear shape when you get up close and personal
