need help

i have a lincon ls year 2000 running rough and keeps throwing a code for egr valve have changed the valve and still running rough and realy bad smell coming out of exhaust. i realy need help with this its my wifes car and she always in it with kids and i hate for it to leave ger on the road with um

What is the exact code that it has, which should be in the form P0123? Also, which engine does her LS have? Many times the code may be "lean condition, bank 1" or similar and someone will say, "Oh, it's probably the EGR valve" when in actuality the EGR is one of several possible issues that could cause a lean condition. Knowing the exact code is necessary to help you with the appropriate diagnostic steps.

actualy the code said egr and o2 sensor on bank 1 slow response i have cleaned out all vaccum lines with cleaner and ran injector cleaner through fuel changed fuel filter about everything i can think of changed egr valve and the o2 sensor and its still running rough also change valve cover gasketts and plugs i know its something simple. before the engine light would just stay on now it blinks when i get going pretty good. oh i have the 3.0 v 6 out of the exhaust its a strong smell when i first start it up and then not too bad after running a bit but still there

That would either be two different codes, or part of the "possible causes" list for a code. The EGR and O2 are separate systems. Also, if the CEL is now blinking, that would indicate yet a different code. But again, without the exact code numbers, it's hard to offer much help.
