2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue 3.5 transmission failure no D or R

Transmission will not grab reverse or first gear, but when the car is pushed till about 15-20mph it will smoothly engage to 2-3-4 and take off quickly on its own. But when the speed drops below that, I am stuck. No leaks, level is perfect, No nasty sounds, but there is a very low sound that sounds like metal shaking around when put in D or R.

For the 2000 Intrigue they are 2 codes for the transmission specifically for the 3.05.
This is mine 3.05 F83 4T65-E-MN3 YRB, Either a YRB or YMB, It’s on the metal tag with a bar code that’s facing by the exhaust and passenger side area.

I believe it has to be changed and I don’t know the best route to start disassembly DIY.

I’m curious if the intrigue with the 3.29 gearing is a Heavy Duty Transmission and could require an ECU maybe come with the 128mph limiter and better acceleration, but the only downfall is a bit lower mpg.

This is not a job for the faint of heart! Having said that, you will have to separate the engine from the trans to drop it out beneath, and you will have to support the engine from above while you remove all of the lower mounts from the trans and engine. There is no other way that I am aware of, I had a shop do it for me and they charged $450 labor. You might be able to find a used tranny for it in the jy, mine usually ran about $4-500. Good Luck, and let us know how it goes

No metal came out of the old transmission. Im thinking it was some worn out bands!
I lifted the engine with transmission straight from the top

sound like this may be a more extreme case of EPC failure...complete lack of pressure at lower rpm's would cause the transmission to slip horribly until pressure built up and overcame the solenoid that was sticking. Ive seen similar situations in other GM's (grand prix, buick) and its quite common in the intrigue community to have a flaky transmission due to faulty pressure solenoids.

I got another transmission which is going in the bay very soon its mated with the engine, so the PCS, Pressure Control Solenoid could of solved the problem? I scanned the car with my actron 9145 and saw nothing, no lights on the dash.
