Complete - Porsche 911 GT2 (Taisan Starcard)

Well, I finally made it in time for Saturday, after several last minute panics - it's amazing how pieces go missing, batteries go flat, and all that stuff isn't it?

Here's the WIP thread btw.

I took my little point-and-shoot to the IPMS meet. Result, lousy pics. Never again...

I stuck it in a temporary display case when I got home. To my surprise this one had extra stuff in it, show-lights, gas-pump, etc. Not bad for a 7$ toss out from Michaels. I thought it was the plain version, somebody probably screwed up. These things would be awesome for American muscle cars and the likes.

Ok, lid off, let the random pics begin...

I forgot to show you these previously - the emergency switches, tiny little devils! The washer nozzles have two little jet-holes in them, almost too small to photograph (can't see it here, sorry).

Apologies to Andy for the tow hook. It's a bit lame, but in a cutesy-quaint sort of way

The main finish is black lacquer and decals, no clear. I really believe that clearing the decals would have ruined the look of this model, but I could be wrong. I will try it some time in the future I suppose.

Here are the air-connector, stalk and cabin-vent details.

The lower skirt is a fake - there's no chassis plate here, it's just a strip of stryrene. I was trying to make the lower plate detachable, and got it, but there was a gap that I couldn't fix in time, so I fell back to this solution.

These pics don't do the tail lights justice - the 3D effect looks very cool.

The antenna, a bit too long perhaps, but it looks reasonably convincing.

Here's some netting I put under the engine cowl.

And underneath. Note, this is not painted as per the instructions.

The weathering was done with paint, Tamiya makeup, and Cover Girl(!).

My Porsche emblems finally turned up in the mail. Only one week late, not too bad I suppose...

The judges liked it! Best in class, and best auto. Bit of a surprise really, because when I put it out for display, all the details seemed to just vanish. It didn't really seem to stand out much, but it looked pretty sharp up close. I really love the TS lacquer, and the black especially is quite dramatic.

I caught up with the MS Hobbies folk again. Damn them, I can't resist their stuff, so now I have this awesome new Bimmer on my stash. Life's tough...

Edit: Uploaded some missing pics. Mods, thanks for the move.

Great model! The detail you added to it really ads a lot to it's value as a model.

Price was well deserved!

Shockingly great work. I still canīt believe taht you didnīt face any problems with clearing over the decals.

The photography of the details (window washers, etc.) kicks off. That is a great looking model and the trophy is well reserved.

Re: Complete - Porsche 911 GT2 (Taisan Starcard)

Thanks for the feedback guys, it's very much appreciated. I uploaded a few more pics to the main entry, and I also found an old pic of one of the washer nozzles. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but it almost disappears when placed on the black hood. Oh well, it's still better than painting the nozzles I guess.
