60,000 mile check-up
What services does one exactly receive during the 60,000 mile check up? My Ford dealer wants to charge me about $600 to do this to my 2005 Taurus.
What should I REALLY have done as the $600 is pretty much out of the question? Finally, anyone of these things I can do by myself cheaper? (Not a real car wiz) Thanks for any input! |

Re: 60,000 mile check-up
Change the transmission fluid and filter if it has not been done and use the Mercon 8 fluid which Ford recomends. The pan gasket is reusable and do not throw it away.Check the hoses and the surpentine belt also and replace if needed.

Re: 60,000 mile check-up
Do you have the Maintenance Guide for your car? If so, the items to check and/or replace will be itemized in that guide. If you don't have the guide, you can download it here.

Re: 60,000 mile check-up
Thanks for the advice and downloads. I'll go with the Tranmission fluid and filter until some money comes around.

Re: 60,000 mile check-up
Just had the local Midas do it for my '02 (yes, 60k
They had already done the trans fluid, I should have done the air filter myself, but they did that + spark plugs, and fuel filter. The cabin air filter (if equipped) was on there too, but I am also short on funds. Edit: Forgot to mention, this is on the "vulcan" ohv, not the 24v duratec
