Hi i have a bmw 3 series soft top only got 10,000 miles on the clock 2.0engine petrol.
Noticed today theres a tapping sound when engine is on.
I have changed the oil, but still tpping sound.

If it is coming from the top of the engine, it could be the valves. It is normal on these cars, but if it persists, or gets louder, you may want to bring it to a dealer or mechanic and have them take a look.

Carly,
You mentioned 2.0 petrol, is that "regular" gas or higher? You might try 89 or 91 octane gas and see if that helps. I use 89 and a gas additive called Lucas and it has helped quiet the noise and smooth the ride with 199K on the odometer.
Also you state you have 10,000 mi on the clock, are you still in warranty? Because, if so, a trip to the shop shouldn't cost you anything.
