New Front Brakes...Chirping!
I have my rear and front brakes replaced, full brake job (calipers etc)
Anyways now they chirp in the front(I think) and they go away when I apply the brake. I went back to the shop that did it and they said its normal and it will go away. He said its normal with Jeeps and nothing I can do about it. Does this sound right? |

Re: New Front Brakes...Chirping!
No it doesn't. If it were so, they would have told you this before they did the job. Take it to another shop to check it out.

Re: New Front Brakes...Chirping!
A couple brake pad changes ago I used average brand pads and they squeaked for about 5000 miles (almost always). The next time I replaced pads I bought better quality ones and no chirping/squealing. I just replaced mine last weekend (new pads and rotors) and there's no squealing at all. One thing I've learned is that lower grade pads with good grade rotors will cause squealing. I also use apply anti-squeal (gooey liquid stuff) to the back of the pads as recommended by the manufacturer, and lube all parts (also as recommended). A good installation with good materials won't make noise.
The noise might drive you crazy, but if your brakes feel like they work, you're probably safe. Just check them every time you rotate tires. |
