99 Regal LS Transmission Question

When I accelerate hard the shifting seems fine. But when under "normal" or light accelleration, the transmission seems to be taking it's time finding the next gear (2-3 seconds). It feels like I'm drivng a stick, I'm shifting to the next gear, and you can feel the momentum drop a bit. The car has 85k miles. Can this just be old/dirty fluid and I need a flush?

I've only had the car 2 years, bought it with only 72k miles (9k/year?), but the previous owner was an older guy (go figure, in a Buick), probably didn't drive it too far, or too long at any one time.

Re: 99 Regal LS Transmission Question

ya a good flush and filter change should help. i would try some Lucas transmission oil and that will help. put in a bottle of that and top up with regular tranny fluid.

I suggest you don't go with the flush but change the fluid and filter. I would also use some Seafoam transmission additive rather than the Lucas oil. If there are any gunk in the tranny the seafoam should take care of the sticking valves and solenoids.
