Carb Throttle Linkage options

What are people doing for throttle linkage setups when using a carb? I'm thinking I may need something adjustable to make sure I can get WOT with the current pedal setup. Any comments on the GTS throttle linkage setup?

Thanks.

Re: Carb Throttle Linkage options

i'm not sure what the other versions have, but my GTS has a roughly 3/8" solid aluminum rod threaded on both ends, with reverse threads on one side. small eyelets are used on both ends with locking hex bolts.

to adjust, you loosen the locking nuts and spin the rod.

its an easy setup, is adjustable, and has worked well.

Re: Carb Throttle Linkage options

Thanks. If you remember to, ask him whether he had to redo the pedal as well. Another friend here locally swapped to carb on his Panoz but had an issue with the amount of throw available in the pedal. He couldn't get to WOT. He had the Explorer motor and I have the Australian 5.0. It could be that I just need to put on a standard intake mounted throttle bracket. With the GTS using a linkage setup I'm wondering whether you need linkage levers to be able to adjust the range of throw in the linkage to get to WOT with the current pedal.

Thanks.

Re: Carb Throttle Linkage options

Ok the plate is a JEGS part. I am not sure of the part number. There was no modifications required to the pedal assembly. The only thing done was to cut the cable. I took a close up of the connection of the cable to the linkage. A simple electrical connector was used that fit loosely. The cable was fed through the connector then double backed and cut. The heat shrink was used to keep it from fraying. Hope this helps.

Ok I don't know how to post the images. If someone can help me then I will do it. Or send me an email address that can handle 6MB images I will send them to you.

Tom

Re: Carb Throttle Linkage options

Tom, thanks for the picture. I also spoke to Brandon at PAD today and he explained that the GTS linkage is totally different. There is a different pedal that is mounted in a different spot. This changes the throw of the pedal for the carb. There is a stop incorporated to the pedal so you can adjust it for WOT. There is no cable involved - just solid linkage rods. It's interesting how Gary was apparently able to get this to work yet another friend who just hooked up a cable found there wasn't enough throw with the "stock" pedal to get WOT. It doesn't look like the bracket Gary used does anything to change the amount of throw involved.

Re: Carb Throttle Linkage options

It is an inspiration to many.

I ended up getting the GTS pedal setup from Panoz. It's a totally different setup with linkage, etc. I'll take a picture of it so you guys can see what it looks like. It's expensive.
