91 CRX fuel problems

Lately, my car has been choking out. by this I mean that a few weeks ago, I was on my way home from work when I hit the gas and it just died. Since then it's been dying after about 10-15 minutes of running. It smells like it's flooding. When it first started doing this it would idle up and down, generally around 1k rpms. It hasn't really done this lately. Any ideas?

Re: 91 CRX fuel problems

We need more information about your vehicle: mileage, maintenance records.

As a general rule: check your distributor cap, ignition wires.

Good luck,

Sam

Your idle problems could be throttle position sensor

Re: 91 CRX fuel problems

It's getting flooded and my bro in law says it needs to be tuned right. The air/fuel ration is messed up and it's running way too rich, causing it to get too much gas and flood. Anyone have any idea how much it costs to get tuned?

Re: 91 CRX fuel problems

call your local autoshop if you don't know how to do it yourself

since shop rates are different in a local region

expect to start @ ~$100 and go from there for a typical "tune up"

basically changing spark plugs & checking the cap/rotor/wires/ timing/ etc...

Re: 91 CRX fuel problems

what codes are being thrown? map sensor could also be causing fluctuating idle, also if it is flooding out check your injectors, i had one on my d15 that was stuck open and it would flood out and die, just some suggestions, good luck
