rusted chrome and dried out rubber.

Just a tip for others, I have found that the easiest and cheapest way of removing surface rust and rust stains from chrome trim is with some wadded up tinfoil, comes right off! (and it won't scratch the chrome)

To restore old dried up rubber, first soak it for a week in soapy water, then spray it with armorall, and keep it soaked. If it has paint on it that won't come off, let it soak in gasoline (not too long though) it may swell up, so let it dry out somewhere warm (like the top of a waterheater) after this it should look and feel like new. (but note that this will not get rid of cracks, it will only make the rubber pliable again and look like new)
