1993 Caddy Seville

4.9 V8. My caddy has idling and running issues. Car RPMs race up and down when idling. Recently car has shut off while idling in park and while driving. Replaced Idle Speed Control Actuator. The arm still moves in and out of the actuator, moving the throttle body up and down.

Daily driver and need help!

Re: 1993 Caddy Seville

Welcome to AF, any check engine lite on, has a full scan been done? The usual suspects here are a vacuum leak, bad tps, carboned up throttle body, sticking egr.

Re: 1993 Caddy Seville

How do i go about this process without blindly replacing parts. Would these potential issues show up on a scan?

New Idle speed Control Actuator still malfunctions, after new one was installed.

Re: 1993 Caddy Seville

The t' body should be cleaned, the egr removed and cleaned, then leave it disconnected for test purposes, a scan should be done for tps operation and any vacuum leak source should be checked.

Did you adjust the ISC motor after installing it? Also, as noted, a common cause of the idling problem you experience is a dirty throttle body and plates.

Re: 1993 Caddy Seville

Sorry for the delayed reply. I cleaned out the throttle body and plates and car runs much smoother! My car still idles too high, at startup it races to 2000 RPMS. I did adjust the Idle Speed Control Actuator. I am wondering the proper way to adjust the idle.

Re: 1993 Caddy Seville

Try this.....

Idle Learn Procedure

• TP is replaced
• throttle body replaced
• PCM replaced
• battery disconnected or replaced
• PCM code 52
• IAC adjusted
• TP sensor adjustment has been preformed
min idle speed adjust procedure has been preformed

IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE ***4.9L***
1-outside temp is 50 degrees or greater
2-start engine and idle 13 min
3-at end of 13 min- enter diagnostics (engine running)
4-turn engine off
5-wait min of 20 sec
6-turn ign on (engine off)
7-enter diagnostics
8-turn ign off
9-wait min of 20 seconds
10-turn ign on (engine off)
11-enter diagnostics
12-turn ign off
13-wait min of 20 seconds
14-start engine
15- appy brakes and shift into 'drive'

Re: 1993 Caddy Seville

This is how you adjust the idle? What do you mean by enter diagnostics? What is the CCP? And i do not have an AC Compressor, i have a dummy pulley.
