96 626 Auto Tanny problem

My daughter and son-in-law have a 96 626 LX 4 cylinder with automatic transmission. The problem they're encountering is that, when cold, the transmission works fine. After it warms up it seems to hunt for a gear so it shifts quite a bit. They say there are times when it seem to "die" meaning that it doesn't feel as though there's any power going to the wheels.

Any idea what's up with it?

Thanks

Re: 96 626 Auto Tanny problem

I hope I did not get to this thread too late.. sorry to hear that,.. I had 4-cyl. 626 in the past,.. and was quite scared about the tranny,.. cause so many people had problems with it,.. I had overheating issues,.. when it did to me( throwing tranny oil all over the floor,.. and o/d light would blink.. and would give me very hard to shift feel,.. slipping when hot,..etc..

I had drained out the oil from the bottom of the pan,.. and refilled it.. do not power flush the tranny.. add one-two bottles of lucas tranny oil treatment,.. and it was allright.. lucky me.. filters are hard to get to..inside the tranny.. they tell me.. this little work had me going for months,.. and gave me no issues... then I ended up selling it,.. cause I needed the money at that point..
my v-6 never gave me any tranny problems.. out of two that I had.. with high miles.. I hope this helps a bit for your problem.. good luck..jc..
