New 3.0 engine, 6.1s 0-60s, traditonal 3 series styling and handling, will the new 330 be Motor Trend's car of the year?

Could be, but my vote goes to the Lexus IS300. 0-60 is a little less, but it's been getting wonderful "driveability" reviews. It'll be a fun match to watch, and I want both.

No, by less I meant, worse...sorry. No, the IS has a 0-60 of 7.1 according to Lexus. Sorry for the poor phrasing.

7.1 is just a start. This shares the same engine as with the last Supra. To me, this is just begging for a Twin Turbo setup. In fact, Lexus exec's say a turbo will fit, but getting an intercooler there poses more problem. I think the aftermarket will definitely solve this problem.

Yeah. I remember. I'd rather have the M3 than that boxster.

definetly the best sports car for the money

fast as a corvette yet can fit 4 and accomadate them very well with full luxury

and the is300 is badass and i think it will have a better chance to win then the 330i
its also way cheaper

Arrow BMW

I'd have to take either Bimmer over the Lexus IS300. The manual-transmissioned, coupe versions of the 330i can hit 60 well down into the 6-second range from what I've read. But the Lexus is a gem, and not a slouch by any means.

Cool

I am going to say the car of the year is going to be either BMW 330 series or the new Audi A4...

Arrow New Audi A4

Yeah, you could be right on the money right there. The new looks are beautiful, not to say that the last generation A4's looks weren't spectacular, but they have managed to take something great and make it that much better. Although I am not a big fan of the new rear end, I liked that of the last generation better.

We'll have to see. Motor Trend usually will give the award to the BMW in Audi/BMW car comparos, but the way Car of the Year is chosen obviously employs a different merit points system (for example the PT Cruiser as this year's Car of the Year, which obviously did not take Motor Trend's top honor for performance achievements).

Yea the M3 is the best in its class. 0-60 in 4.8 seconds and you can fix four people in there well five if you need to unlike my porsche that I fit 5 people in there I still don't know how they go in there. hehe

Yeah, the car of the year never seems to be anything too special, I think the cost is weighted too heavily, It's never anything real expensive.
