need help picking my first car

So im a junior in high school, and i love cars like no other. I live and breath them. i currently drive an lx470 (yuck) everyday to school, but i have had the opportunity to drive my dads Porsche cayenne turbo and sc430. I'm looking for a fairly fast car that might be tracked every once and a while. in reality I am going to need 4 seats, but they dont have to be super usable, but just in case. I live in Washington and I am going to have to go over the pass to go to college so im thinking i need awd, but im not sure so i need to know your guys opinions on whether rwd and chains will be good enough. I had the opportunity to drive my friends prelude at pacific raceways and im NOT gonna get a fwd car. 15k is stretching the budget so nothing more than that. This will need to be a fairly reliable car as i will probably use it over the next 6 years or so. a degree of upgradeability would be nice. I really like the wrx but it just seems as if everyone has one. anyway i just want your opinions what you think i should get for 15k that has 4 seats and is awd or rwd. thanks a bunch, i know im being picky

Re: need help picking my first car

I can't keep myself from recommending a late 90's or early 00's Mustang. Those things are a blast to drive, are easily upgradable, fast, fun, and have little back seats.

However, you might run into some issues in the winter time, so I'm sure something more foreign with AWD may be up your ally. I'm not sure on prices, but have you considered some year of Subaru WRX?

Re: need help picking my first car

have you tought about a mitsubishi gsx. they are awd, have good sized rear seats, & have a pretty large aftermarket base. loads of them can be found on autotrader or other like websites w/ less than 100,000 miles for less than $10,000
