malibu as project car?

ok so im 17 and my dad is gonna give me his chevy malibu i think its a 98 has like 100k miles or something no major problems. But would that be a good car to turn into a project one. Because also my dad would like to work on it with me and stuff and i dont know if its worth it or should i buy like a honda civic cuz those are pretty cheap. So let me know what you all think of this im just getting started and its my first car so i would like to put some upgrades in it but im not sure if its the right thing to do. And are the parts expensive for it or on the cheap side?

Its either that or we gonna sell it. So hit me up. I personally havent seen any hooked up malibus around here so for a change it would be nice to have one because no one has one close by.

I will tell you that its not a car thats been in the spot light like a honda civic or accord but I've seen a few that have been done up very nice. Plus there is a good bit of after market stuff around from body kits to vortek super chargers. Check out www.cardomain.com in the malibu section. You will see a lot of just spec cars but you will see some blown out ones. most of the people there will post the parts that they used.

thanks yeah i either get the malibu or i was thinking bout a honda civic bout wayyy too many people have the civic thats the only reason i dont like it that much and its like a ricer car but yeah. Also now a little off topic but same with the infinit g35 thers a ton of them on the streets use to be a nice car it still is but like everyone has them.
