gauges in cluster working/stopping/working

I have a friend with a 2000 Blazer and his fuel and temperature gauges would work, then stop, then work again. He says this is happening while he is driving the car or sitting at a stop, appears to be completely random and the car doesn't appear to have any troubles running while the gauges are doing this. He also said when the gauges stop working the battery light comes on as well.

Any ideas of what might be causing the problem or what to check?

Thanks

First check the fuse panel on the drivers side of the dash, specifically the number 3 fuse. Make sure the fuse is not blown and is in the socket good and tight. If this fuse is good the problem might be the ignition switch.

See this Thread http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=597816 Be sure to see the photo of the fuse panel.
