74 F100 Light Switch Removal

How do you get the knob off without damaging the switch? The manual does a very poor job. Is there a little metal spring inside the knob like the wiper knob? I have a 73, 74, & 75 and there all the same. The wiper knob comes off but I can't get the light switch knob. thanks for your help.

You need to go under the dash to the switch. There is a lottle button that holds the knob and shaft assembly in the switch. You will feel the smooth metal side of the switch and push the button and then pull the knob and shaft assembly.
