To some, 1.4M units sounds like a lot. For the amount of vehicles GM did "pup out" of their World Wide assembly lines in one week, this 1.4M count is a small fraction of it. Thus, not too sure if I'd call this a "massive recall". Besides that, it sounds like there's a wire clip / heat shield at "front of the engine" that needs to be replaced. Simple in, a GM Tech reaches down, swaps out a part, and "good to go". (certainly isn't an engine removal or front end removal task). It will probably take GM longer to "do the paper work" then a Tech to perform the physical work. Especially since the area being serviced is "infront of the engine". re: "DEALERS WILL REMOVE THE SPARK PLUG WIRE RETENTION CHANNEL AT THE FRONT OF ENGINE AND INSTALL TWO NEW SPARK PLUG WIRE RETAINERS FREE OF CHARGE."
