Tires
Now that the snow is nearly gone it's time to start thinking about this season. I've been running the pirelli p zeros d3 that came with the car. I bought a couple of extra sets when i got the car. Just looked at the price of new ones and wish i'd bought more. I've been happy with the pirells' but am curious what other people have been running. If you have any input i'd be interested to hear it. Mine is a series car with 18" wheels
thanks - bruce |

Re: Tires
Hoosiers or Kuhmos depending on how long each race is for. Hoosiers Cup slicks for long or endurance races, and Kuhmos for sprint races.

Re: Tires
Hoosier R6s would be my first choice providing you have the frame reinforcements to support slicks (near slicks) else street tires to reduce grip and stress. Kuhmo has some DOT legal near slicks as well, but we've had great luck and durability with the R6s. If you really want max grip then the new Hoosier Radial Slicks are the fastest tire we've tested, but driving on slicks leaves little room for error near the edge of grip.

Re: Tires
Just tried a set of Michelin slicks and I am running my best lap times.
They are very reasonably priced as well..... http://www.jdmotorsports.com/tiresales.aspx Doug |

Re: Tires
We have tried:
Hoosier R6 Hoosier Grand Am Slicks (felt bad but might need a diff. setup to work) Yokahama Slicks (the worst) Michelin Slicks Pirellis Slicks Dunlops (only ran 17" when it was the spec from Panoz back in the day) The Michelins and the Pirellis are the best. We run the Pirellis because they are better, have choices in compounds, and supply chain has served us better. We had issues getting tires from JD Motorsports. IT all depends on what you are doing. The slicks are going to be stickier but once they drop off they really drop off. The DOT legal tires will slowly fad but will never be as sticky and they cost less.

Re: Tires
We've have tested pirellis, michelins, and yokahamas. We tried the hoosier grand am tire but it didn't work to well. I got the best results with my pro driver, the other guys were just alittle better. But they all said that the new hoosier felt alot better.

Re: Tires
I run the Pirelli P zero slicks, with a 285 in the front (on a 10" rim)and a 305( on a 11 inch rim) in the rear. You can stuff a 305 in the front but you will have clearnce issues at steering lock, and have to trim the fender back. In the rear the 305 measure small, but the next size 325 is to big, and does not work as well on the cars handling, with out major set up changes (different construction). Also they are built t be on a 12" rim. I have ran the Michelins, but found them to be much slower on my set up, and they cost more. They due last a little longer, but were 2 seconds slower in our test, and dont warm up as fast.
