billet grill

I purchased a billet grille for my 05 chevy impala and the instruction on replacing my factory grille say it can be mounted over my factory but i dont see how this works because i have a chrome strip with a chevy logo that protrudes above my factory grille, any suggestions on how to remove factory grille or replace the billet over my factory.I am not very car literate any help would be much appreciated.

Re: billet grill

The billet grill should be in at least two pieces (depending on application) and the grille will go over factory grille. It should have tabs/brackets that protrude through the stock and fasten in the back. I did this to my 06 Impala as well as my 05 Malibu. It is tricky and requires some skill of "fabrication" for the lack of a better term. I did mine in a couple of hours, a bloody knuckle and several swear word laced tirades. LOL...

good luck

Re: billet grill

"Trenz" Grilles I know for sure attach like a stock grille (meaning you have to remove the stock grille).

Looking at ebay ones, You can tell in the pictures the stock grille has been removed, even tho it says "can be installed over the Stock grille", it's just not possible with the 00 - 05 Impala grille.

3 Pushtabs on the top, and 2 posts on either side, that slide through a hole in the bumper and a washer bites into them (I don't know what these are called, Just took my best crack at describing them).

Should take you 5 minutes tops to remove the Old grille.
