bumper installation problem

pretty much i bought an ARB full replacement off road bumper brush guard combo from a friend for $600 so i don't have any instructions or anything to install it but i figured it would be a breeze im pretty mechanically inclined and all but i got it home and he gave me 2 brackets and said he might have more and he will look for them and let me know, i looked at the brackets he gave me and what u do is take off the tow hooks and all and bottom part bolts were the bottom bolt of the tow hook did in the frame and the top half bolts to were the oem bumper was on the frame, one thing i noticed i have to do is trim some of the metal at the end of the framing a bit and it will fit in, but the main thing is i also have a bodylift on it and i need it 3inchs higher, can i have this bumper with a bodylift on my truck and if so is the other brackets he might have be what i need or somthing, if any of you have done this or know about somthing that can help i would greatly apprtiate it, thanks

Re: bumper installation problem

You didn't tell us what year/type your truck is...that helps alot.

I'm gonna guess you bought the ARB Bull Bar bumper but it may have been called something else when yours was made. There are fit kits that help you fit it up to various year/styles of Chevys. But I will imagine that with the body lift you have, you'll either have to modify the frame end or fab some custom brackets from plate steel to raise it to the proper position. If you go the fab route, don't be stingy on materials...remember it's a bumper and designed to protect the truck (and in this case possibly winch the truck out of trouble). I'll forward one link to a place that sells ARBs for Chevys with a phone number you can call for assistance...they were the lucky ones in my Internet search, no endorsement or experience with them from me.

Good luck!
