What is the best OBD-CAN code reader

After going to a dealership and having them hook my car up to their computer I have been looking into purchasing a cheaper version of theirs. I am looking at spending less than $250 for it. I think all I would need is the OBDII and I want something that is going to be able to work on cars in the future so I would need CAN right? I would like it to be able to see live data and use it driving so I could see misfires and other data. I have done research on the Internet but it all seems to broad. Any suggestions? thanks

Re: What is the best OBD-CAN code reader

You really can't compare the regular obd-ii scanners/scan tools out there with a GM Tech 2 and there is no such thing as a cheaper version of the Tech 2.

Plenty of brands out there will get the basic job done for $250 or less. Actron, Equus, Autotap with laptop computer and many more.
