93 Accord - Key Beeper Beeps with no key in ignition...sometimes

93 Accord LX. About 70% of the time the key beeper is still beeping when the car door is open but NO key in the ignition.

Annoying, but not mission critical. Any ideas on the culprit?

Thanks

Re: 93 Accord - Key Beeper Beeps with no key in ignition...sometimes

buy some "tri-lube" from a local ace or hardware store. (it is recommended by locksmiths) spray some in there and then turn the key forward and back then pull the key out, do this about 10 times, each time wiping the key off (it will have tri lube on it)

what has happened is, "stuff" has gotten in the lock cylinder causing the "key in ignition" reminder to get hung up. (you can bang on the bottom side of the steering column and it will make it return to normal, but doing that every time is hardly fixing it).

hope this helps!
