Question C1225LF excessive wheel speed, alot of road noise getting worse. Any Info will hlp

Hello,
I own a 2001 grand am
This winter duringa snow storm I was trying to get up my hilll and kept getting stuck spinning sheels and such.

I got up the hill and 5 mins later my Abs, service viceal and trak off lights came on, they would comer on once in a while once car was started and running until they just stayed on all the time.
Took in and got codes:
C1225 - LF excessive wheel speed
P0105=Map or BARO Preasure circuit problem.

The tech replaced the "left weel bearing hub/senser" and lights all went out.

Now it was good, 3 weeks later I was driving and ran into a large puddle with my left tire(hub/senser that was changed), and all the same lights turned on right away again.
after that the lights would turn on once in a while after car is srarted until now they always come on and stay on with a extra light Parking break light.
Also about 4 weeks later (after the new left hub/senser bearing was replaced) there started to be road noise up front area that would get less when I turned my stearing wheel to the right a little from center to change lanes, Within a month the road noise got worst and worst now its so bad I can hear it over my radio at its normal vol.

Couple weeks ago I took it in and told them im having same problem all lights and now there is alot of road noise. So they do a Suspention check, I didnt know they were doing, and when the tech came out he said there were some things with my rear, front suspention, making the clunking noise I felt in the brake/gass pedle,I dont think that was it cause it wasgrinding/kinda clunking hard to explain) I asked him about the loud front end noise and hes like its the right wheel bearing hub without really checking it,"I watched him the whole time, this time" probably because he just changed the left one and he didnt want to look bad, or didnt think anything could go bad within 1 - 1 1/2 months. I didnt get it hooked up to computer that day because they cost me 60 bucks for the suspention check(Canadian Tire) and didnt have enough to hook up to computer for light error codes.

There is no play in either of the tires he said.

So recap:
- went through puddle on left tire(left weelbearing hub just replaced)
-Abs, service viceal and trak off lights all came on right away.
-Over last month front end road noise has gotton worst and worst.
-Lights would come on once in a while now they come on all the time soon as car starts and latly the red brake light will come on once in a while more freakwently, I have to pull over turn off car and start car again to turn it off.
- oh yeah when I took it in 2nd time to get checked there would be some kind of grinding sound/feel or something In the front brake/gass pedel with road noise that is very loud now.
- when lights would come on once in a while after driving I noticed a grinding sound kinda like the abs brakes engaging and grinding that I would have to pump the brakes a couple times for it to go away.

Its a long one just wanted to give all the info

I seem to think its the left weel bearing again just because of the puddle and all lights turning on again right away plus chances of exact same problem lights and all to the tee and the right weelbearing hub going 3 weeks later?

Any Ideas or thoughts would help out a lot I dont know alot about cars and sick of getting ripped off.

Do you guys think the left weelbearing went and within 3 weeks the right one went and both had the lights turn on in exact same way?

I need some options or info for when I go back in so I can look like I know a little bit about cars so I dont get ripped when it could be the left again and its under waranty and them replace the right and that doesnt fix the problem and it was really the left weel bearing hub/senser again?

Thanks guys

Welcome to AF !!

Sounds like your bearing(s) were bad and needing replaced.
If it throwing codes on them after they were replaced and after getting wet then Id say your wiring is also bad up by the wheel speed sensors. This is very typical for them to get damaged as they pass thru some suspension parts and its easy to scrape the wires making it short when wet.

Actualy you are supposed to replace bearings in pairs, kind of like brakes and rotors. So if your other bearing is growling then Id replace that before it breaks.

Also if the brake pads are on wrong, with the wear indicator on the outside, your brakes will grind excessively whether youre braking or just driving.

Hope that helps!

Re: C1225LF excessive wheel speed, alot of road noise getting worse. Any Info will hl

Well I'm not sure it is actually the other weel bearing hub/senser making the noise. I mean it could be, but the same lights and everything happening the exact same way 2 weeks later that's kinda weird, with them comming on after going un a pudle with the side that was fixed, it would mean one sencer went then the other or both wires shorting 2 weeks apart. Maybe the wire is shorting out on the bearing that was replaced, andthe other one is actualy going.

Could it be the that the new wheel bearing hub/sensor was put on wrong or that they messed up on the brakes making something happen. Because the only reason the hub was changed is because the sensor and lights there was no noise or anything, he replaced the one with the bad sensor then 2 weeks later same side gets wet lights all come on and over time road noise getting worst and worst.
The thing is on the notes when they fixed the lights in the dash it says they plugged a new weelbearing hub/sensor and the lights went out so they figured that was the problem but at that point in time the lights would only come on and off randomly usually on wet days. and like I said same problem when my left wheel the hub replaced went through the water.
I dont know I just really dont trust these people I had bad dealings with them before replacing parts that I asked for back and were fine, this is my grandfathers car and he took it into there to get fixed before I knew.
Well thank for the info about the wireing

Anybody else have any ideas or think it coyld actually be the hub that was just replaced making the noise and shorted out due to water and bad wire uptop.
Thanks in advance

I guess the only way to find out is take it in and put it on the computer again and see if its the left or right one making the lights come on then to figure out whats making so much road noise.

The tires have no play at all, thats why I cant see the wheelbearing bub being that bad to make so much road noise. Plus when it was up on the jack the car was running and rires going and there was no movment in the air looked like they were spinning straight, could the road noise be comming from brakes being put back on wrong grinding up against rodor over time and mess up everything around that areea.

One more question, WHen they hook it up to the computer can they actually reset the computer and codes making the lights go off on the dash board and if they did and it just happened the lights came back on after getting wet driving through that puddle shorting the same thing that caused teh lights to go off in th first place? Anyway IDK im taking it somewher else see what they saythe noise is pretty loud now im kinda afraid to drive it and its only car and cant get it checked until tuesday because of holidays and I have to drive 60km each day in town and back until I can even get it checked.

If there is no play in the wheels think it will be ok for another days or could something seriously bad happen?
