I'm Stressed Out - Keyless Entry

I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix. I cannot get my keyless entry remote to work. I locked my keys in the car but I had the remote, I left the lights on and the battery died. I had to have the door opened by roadside assistance, and then we jumped the car now remote won't work at all. Is there anything anyone can think of to help me? I cannot afford to take it to the shop. I could owe hundreds after thy are done guessing. And I was also wondering if anyone else is having numerous problems with their cars?

Help Please...

Re: I'm Stressed Out - Keyless Entry

Welcome to AF.

You can try to resync the remotes to the car by pressing and holding the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously until you hear the locks cycle (ususally about 7-10 seconds). Also be sure the batteries are good in the remotes, as you'll have to resync them after a battery change as well.

If that doesn't work, you may have to reprogram the remotes. If you have your owners manual, the proceedure is in there, if not, here's the link to the proceedure in our tips and maintenance section.

Good luck.
