68 and 88 tranny compatable

is the SM465 muncie tranny the same for the 68 and a 88 half ton pick up? I have a link and from what im reading they should be the same for 2 wheel drive. http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/sm465.htm Am i reading this right?

as long as the engine is the same, make sure drive shaft is proper size to reach rear diff properly
