Tranny ?

Will a tranny out of a 1989 chevy 1500 4x4 fit a 1992 chevy 1500 2wd if you change out the tailshafts and tail shaft housings?

Yes the case is the same between 2wd and 4wd. 87 - 92 700r4s are interchangable.
